EVAN LAPP (24) – Scrawny, unkempt, intelligent, slacker.

For Evan Lapp, his mid-twenties are no different than his teenage years. He still works a lousy job at a taco stand, gets drunk almost every night, and still forgets to bathe for days at a time. His proudest achievement in life is Beer Mountain, the giant tower of beer cans he and his friends Knute and Martin have been building in his apartment for the last year and a half.

When Evan is fired for allowing Knute and his girlfriend to have sex in the walk-in refrigerator where he works, Evan knows it’s time for a change. Knute offers him an interview at Stone Realty. The opportunity brings with it a paycheck that seems too good to be true. After being hired under strange circumstances, he begins to realize that maybe it is.

KNUTE SACHE (24) – Tall, agile, sexual deviant, heavy drinker.

Knute was the first generation of his family born in America. The phonetic and visual resemblance of his name to the term “Nut Sack” branded him with that unfortunate nickname early in life. The fact that his father changed his own name to William after moving to America (not knowing its abbreviation was Bill) and consequently became known as “Ball Sack” didn’t help matters either.

Knute balances his long nights of drinking and debauchery with a day job as a sales assistant for Stone Realty. Recognizing Evan’s need for a change, he lands him an interview with the big boss, Stone Campbell. But as Evan rises quickly in the ranks, Knute fears he might be left behind.

JULIE PAYNE (22) – Slender, attractive, sexual deviant, exhibitionist.

It was at a group therapy session that Knute met Julie Payne, a masochist and fellow victim of unfortunate names. They hit it off right away and soon learned the one thing they had in common: the desire to have sex in forbidden places. Outdoors, at work, in public restrooms, abandoned houses, airplane tarmacs… nothing is off limits.

As Evan begins to smell something dirty inside Stone Realty, she and Knute work together to help him find out exactly what’s going on.

MARTIN SHAYE (25) – Small, flabby, weak-willed, beaten down.

Martin, Evan’s long-suffering next-door neighbor, is a sight to behold. He still lives with his mother, a seldom seen but often heard beast of a woman. If ever there was a candidate for worst mother of the century, it would go to Janet Shaye.

Currently trying to make his living as a writer while at the same time dodging calculated insults from his mother and enduring untold hours of The Price is Right, Martin spends as much time in Evan’s apartment as he can just to be free of her. After learning that Evan is now in real estate, Martin cooks up a scheme to trick his mother into moving out of her own house… an idea with repercussions that end up being about as subtle as a nuclear explosion.

STONE CAMPBELL (47) – Tall, physically fit, loud, imposing, self-centered.

Irish by descent, Stone’s idea of celebrating his heritage is to get loaded on Jameson Irish Whiskey pretty much every day. Then he enjoys a large lunch of bean burritos at the local Mexican restaurant where he frequently sexually harasses his waitresses. Then it’s on to the pet shop to fart on the caged dogs because, as he puts it, “one fart to them is like twenty to you and me.”

In reality, it’s all about power. Stone has it but he craves more. He wants to play in the big leagues, he wants to be rich, he wants people to know his name… and he will do anything to achieve his goals, legal or otherwise.

TORI BLOOM (26) – Tall, slender, drop dead gorgeous, vengeful.

Because of her looks, Tori has always had everything she wanted handed to her on a silver plate. She wanted a job at Stone Realty and she took it, but not without sleeping with the enemy. Their romance didn’t last long and ended badly, but with all the dirt she had on Stone, she managed to hang on to her job.

Tori takes an interest in Evan early on, mostly just to make Stone jealous, but eventually it becomes something more. As Evan begins to find damning information about Stone and his business practices, Tori works with him to get back at Stone once and for all.

WHIT STERLING (38) – Stern, unmovable, unimaginative.

As Stone increases his dirty dealings, he eventually lands on the radar of the FBI after selling real estate to another group already under surveillance. Whit eventually makes contact with Evan and doesn’t give him any choice except to go along with the Bureau’s plans to bring Stone down. But Evan has his own plans.
